St. Stephen’s Day is always a massive one on the calendar. But this year was a bit different for me, I spent the day at Tigh Uí Mhuiríthe. A wonderful, secluded gem in Dungarvan for Wren Day for Palestine, and honestly, it was a night the summed up exactly what this festive period should be about; community, music, and showing up for something bigger. When I say the venue was packed out, I mean PACKED, I couldnt even see the back of the pub. The place was buzzing with that specific post-Christmas manic energy, but also grounded by a serious cause: raising vital funds for Doctors Without Borders.

Organised by The Wran, the night also featured sets from Chris & Peter O’Sullivan followed by Ard Ó with Jimmy Brockie that had the whole room listening and cheering. The whole gig felt really intimate and inclusive.

What made the night feel really special was knowing that every note played was helping a very good cause. Every donation made was going directly to aid on the ground in Gaza. From touring with the Wran recently I have seen first hand how much these guys care about this cause, every show they remind their audience of the reality people in Gaza face. Music has always been a way to mobilize people here, and seeing the Deise turn out in force was a powerful reminder of what our scene can do when we pull together. It wasn't just a well needed session; it was a statement.

If you weren’t able to make it down (or if the night is a bit of a blur), I was on hand to document the whole thing and you can check the images from the night below.
