What's up Groevers?!?

Groev are back today with another new Summer anthem!

If there's one thing we've learned about Galway's own Groev over the last year, it's that this self-proclaimed "drinking band with a music problem" knows exactly how to put together a catchy, successful and meaningful tune. Dropping today, August 21st, their brand new single 'Life With you (By My Side)' is the latest milestone in a steady streak of hits. Since bursting onto the scene with their debut track 'Ben and Jerry's,' they've been flat out racking up hit after hit. From the massive 'Tara Grove' (sitting just shy of half a million streams by the way) to favorites like "Right Back To You" & 'Subtle'.

Now the band, featuring Joe Sweeney, Rory O'Regan, Jack Lennox, and brothers Evan and Keegan Forde, are continuing their quick rise in the Irish music scene with today's release. Clocking in at a breezy 3 minutes and some change, the new track shows off the band's ever evolving and expanding dynamic range. Coming hot on the heels of their recent release "Kettle for Tea," the song starts with a similarly measured, slow-burn style delivery. But don't let that fool you, there is a constant, fun, exciting and masterful build to this track. Driven by Joe Sweeney’s characteristically top-notch vocals and some seriously great harmonies, the song has that exciting, cheeky tempo running through it at every line.

At its core, the song feels like a genuine reflection on love, the comfort of companionship, and finding light during the darkest days. It explores how having the right person by your side makes the tough times brighter and the perfect moments feel genuine, beautifully captured by Joe in lyrics such as:

"So I'll savour every moment that I get to spend with you...you make perfect feel so true"

It’s wonderfully sentimental, but Groev injects such a vibrant, uplifting energy into the arrangement that it never tips into being overly sappy. If anything, that massive chorus is tailor-made for big crowds. It’s got that undeniable festival energy, the kind of hook that begs a crowd to crouch down low before jumping into absolute chaos. I'm all for seeing some sort (albeit softer) style mosh pits at Groevs gigs. That perfect blend of earnest songwriting and electric, fun-loving energy really sums up who Groev are right now: a bunch of great guys having the time of their lives while watching their hard work take shape.

Fans heading to Electric Picnic next Friday, August 28th, are in for an absolute treat; this

track is guaranteed to go off when they hit the Fish Town stage at 4:15 PM.

If you miss them at EP, you'll have plenty of other chances to catch them live. They’re hitting the road to support Chris Boldt at the Róisín Dubh in Galway (Sept 3), Whelan's Upstairs in Dublin (Sept 10), and Dolan's in Limerick (Sept 12), before heading to Offaly to support Gavin James at the Big Top on September 19th. Go give "Life with you (by my side)" a listen today, and get ready to have that chorus stuck in your head all weekend.
