If there was any doubt about Jamie McIntyre’s soaring trajectory, the queues snaking outside Monroe's long before doors opened will tell you exactly how popular this young singer-songwriter is. Playing on his home turf as part of the Galway Folk Festival yesterday, the Galway native completely took over the venue. Performing to nearly 1,000 fans across two back-to-back shows, Jamie proved exactly why he has been selling out headline tours across the country and packing out legendary venues.

The afternoon kicked off with a special all-ages show, a testament to McIntyre’s rapidly expanding, multi-generational fanbase driven by his rising profile on TikTok and Instagram. Families, young teens, and kids packed the floor, but some of the most important attendees were the singer's own relatives. In what was a really nice touch, Jamie dedicated his early viral track, "Girl Dressed in Gold," to his nanny, who was in the crowd celebrating her birthday. This was a clear reminder that despite his international streaming success and recent sold-out shows in the UK, his roots remain firmly planted in the west.

By evening, the venue transitioned into a raucous, over-18s affair. The room was packed to the rafters. McIntyre delivered a blistering set, rolling through all his hits. The band composed of Gavin Doyle, Cian O'Donoghue and David Flanagan were on top of their game as always, the crowd was loud, and the atmosphere was nothing short of euphoric.

The only time there was silence all night was when Jamie stepped off the stage and directly into the center of the packed crowd, delivering an intimate performance of "Mo Cailin Mo Craoi." The previously roaring Monroe's fell to a pin-drop silence. The night was rounded off with an encore of Jamie's biggest hits including the massive 'Over Galway Town'.
As if a double-header hometown triumph wasn't enough, it was also announced yesterday that the Galway man will be hitting the road to support Cian Ducrot on his highly anticipated "The Dream Ship" tour this July and August, alongside upcoming support slots for Tom Grennan. With and Electric Picnic slot and a slew of other major summer festivals already in the diary, yesterday at Monroe’s was a celebration of how far Jamie McIntyre has come, and a launchpad for the massive heights he’s heading toward next.
