ARREN Drops New Single "Thinking About July" Ahead of National Tour

Dublin-based cinematic pop-rock artist ARREN has just dropped his propulsive new single, "Thinking About July," out today. Having covered many of ARREN’s releases over the years, and after attending his phenomenal capacity-crowd headline show at Little Whelan's last year, I’ve been continually listening to his music. He has built a steadfast reputation as a relentlessly positive and confident frontman who writes what I would describe as deeply human songs about love, loss, and growth.

"Thinking About July" explores the collapse of a relationship that has an unavoidable expiration date. Yet, instead of going down the obvious road for a song exploring that theme, ARREN instead encases this absolute ending within a sweeping, euphoric heavy hitting sound. By pouring his heaviest emotional burdens directly into the track's production, he creates what he aptly describes as “a fierce, uplifting anthem for anyone who likes their high-stakes romance with a side of boogie.” It masterfully channels both the exhilaration of loving someone fully and the grief of knowing it must end.

As a long-time listener, I really loved the change of pace in this track. It leans a lot more into the rock side of his pop-rock genre, delivering a very strong sound that is a lot more punchy than some of his previous tracks. There is a fantastic push-pull dynamic at play, all the while a wonderfully sultry sound plays in the back and mixes with perfectly timed breaks. Guided by towering brass, the song features a very well-produced build-up that explodes into a catchy, catchy chorus. Well done, ARREN.

To celebrate the release, ARREN is embarking on a four-date national tour. He is known for fostering safe, engaging live environments where audiences can connect. As ARREN himself notes, “The songs hold all the weight so that when we play them live, the room has a shared release of joy.”

Catch the exceptional voice of modern pop-rock across the country this month to experience this energy firsthand.
